The Tamar and Tributaries Fisheries Association is a member of the South West Rivers Association which represents clubs in Devon, Cornwall and parts of Dorset.

South West Rivers Association (SWRA).

The South West Rivers Association is a representative body for its members which comprise riparian fishery owners and managers, anglers and environmentalists. The SWRA is the regional voice of 18 individual river associations in Dorset, Devon and Cornwall. Though most English and Welsh rivers have river associations there is at present no national association and the SWRA is the only regional group.

The SWRA oversee the Salmon and Sea Trout Action Scheme (SSTAS) which is a multi-stakeholder framework launched to protect and restore declining populations of wild Atlantic salmon and sea trout in UK rivers.

Tamar and Tributaries Fisheries Association Guidelines for Conservation

Salmon – Bag limit of one fish per rod per day, with 2 out of 3 fish released. Please release your first two salmon, you may then consider keeping the third fish if it is less than ten pounds and not red or coloured. The Environment Agency expect anglers on the Tamar to release at least 70% of the total catch.

Sea trout – Please release all sea trout over 3lbs and any red or coloured fish, and keep no more than two per rod per day. Catch and release guidance can be found here.
